15 Sep SBA Start Up Factory: Pollustock and Fred Win Competition
September 15, 2020: Sophia Business Angels (SBA) are pleased to announce the winners and participants the 2020 Start Up Factory. This is the 17th edition of the event that provides new entrepreneurs and students, with either an active project or simply a well developed idea, the opportunity to network with private investors, bank executives and other experts in the Startup Ecosystem. This year we featured 12 companies pitching their new ventures for 3 minutes without visual support. The sold-out event had 80 socially distant and mask-wearing attendees which included startups, judges, and sponsors, at Espaces Antipolis.
New this year, SBA enhanced the event to support two winners with 12-hours each with personalized and free follow-up by club members. And the winners are… Stéphane Asikian, CEO of Pollustock and Mira Hizobel Mclean, CEO of Fred. Fred provides an alternative channel to Uber (and other ride sharing apps) for chauffer drivers. It offers them a way to retain ownership of their customers and instead of paying commission for each transport they pay a flat fee per month. Pollustock makes an innovative trap nets to help keep the sea and the oceans clean. It blocks waste (paper, plastics, cigarette butts etc.) that flows from rivers to the sea via rainwater pipes. The company is seeing a lot of early adoption, even Cannes has started to install this type of net.
